Does anyone know how and when this ‘tween’ crisis begun and why are the media and retailors taking advantage of it?? Bratz dolls…maybe thats it. When I was a little girl the barbie was sometimes frowned upon for the image it provokes in our children’s minds. Has anyone seen the way a bratz dress? And these dolls are based on the tween to teen age group. Apparently the ‘tween’ stage starts sometime between 6 and 14. My daughter is 8, this morning there was a dispute over false finger nails and wanting to wear them to school!! Every day I am contending with a constant battle with lipgloss, nail polish, jewellery and fashion. Getting hair done in the morning is a world crisis and may God be with anyone who messes with the fashionable princess hair. Also there is a whole new isle in the department stores these days where you can pick up your child size padded bra..oh my God! Am I the only one who is concerned with this? Basically what these CHILDREN are learning is about sexuality and how to use it. Is it us mum’s to blame unknowingly? I know I have at times asked for my daughter’s opinion on an outfit or lip colour, se has also heard me mention after my last child was born how difficult it is to loose extra kilos. These children also see all and hear all, they notice they way we womn straighten up and tidy our hair when greated by the opposite sex, they also see how we tend to use it to manipulate men to get our own way. Without knowing have we brought about this upon ourselves and now have no choice but to suffer the consequences. Is it too late? I just know that I am going to relish in the moments as few and far between they come, when my little girl slips back into her sweet little ways and wants mummy’s cuddles for a while.
